BAMBINOV2
A steadier lock. A clearer response.
A home espresso-machine redesign, built around the relationship between the hand, the group head and physical feedback.

Lock the handle. Keep the machine still.
A compact espresso machine should not move away while the portafilter locks. The rotational action transfers a reaction to the body, often calling for a second hand to steady it.

Rotation and movement
Observe how turning the handle affects body stability.
- 02
A place for the thumb
Find an opposing support reachable by the same hand.
- 03
Legible physical states
Connect the action to a clear physical state.

Give the action a physical scale.
A low-cost volume model explores hand paths, operating height and reach before the form is resolved.
Focus: height, reach and viewing angle
Physical records document the iterations; final materials communicate the design intent.
One support. Hand meets structure.
Grip the handle and rest the thumb against the projecting support beside the group head. This contact becomes part of the turning action.
The support on the group head stays fixed. The right thumb rests against its side while the fingers turn the handle. Watch how the two surfaces meet.
Based on the physical prototype reference. The translucent hand and handle illustrate the interaction.
